My name is (your name) and I am a happy {store name} customer at the [town and state] branch. I leave your store with a lot of bags of groceries every time I shop! I started reusing them because my little apartment was being engulfed! It is such a waste to throw them out, but I think your customers have little choice.
When I left the state I was interested to find they charge for bags or give a small discount when you bring your own at grocery stores. I thought it was a great idea! Maybe your chain could do that or have a point system every time you don't provide bags. This will only save you money and keep prices low. It will also minimize waste, and at a time of heightened awareness about global warming will be a welcomed program and well received I'm sure. I haven't noticed a place to recycle the bags at my location, but that would also help after the bags break. I've also heard about recycling services at other grocery stores where people remove the boxes of their items before they leave and place in a recycling box provided at the location. They could also return the next week to do so. Something to consider in the future.
